normal total cholesterol hdl and triglycrides but elevated ldl?
My total cholesterol is 196 (lab range says <200 OK), hdl is 62 (lab range says >60 good), triglyceride 76 (lab range says >150 good) but my ldl is 124 (lab range says 100-129 borderline). My doctor wants to treat this with medication without giving me chance to even try changing my diet. I’m worried about the effect on my liver and feel like she’s being a little too quick to prescribe meds. What does it mean that my triglyceride is well below good range but my ldl is elevated? Should I ask for a chance to fix this myself?
I’m sorry for the trigycrides I meant to say lab range said less than 150, not greater than
What is a healthy blood cholesterol level?
Blood cholesterol is very specific to each individual. A full lipid profile can be an important part of your child’s medical history, and important information for your child’s physician to have. In general, healthy levels are as follows:
LDL – less than 130 milligrams (mg)
HDL – greater than 35 mg (less than 35 mg puts your child at higher risk for heart disease)
